The man who folded himself.
Written by Nathan Birkinshaw
There was never any doubt in my mind
Unless there was doubt in my mind.
They told me there was going to be this great rapture
So I sat, and waited.
There were fireworks and passive conversation about vulnerability
There were coal pits and polar bears and a sort of numb
We had laughs
They had laughs
In Briton the only place on earth were glass is a doing word.
To glass
With the hard A sounds and the hissing S’s. We were surrounded by idiots
We were idiots
We knew no better.
We still don’t
With heavy eyes and heavy hands and heavy hearts
With tight fists and tight lips and tight chests we hummed
And it was to the tune of Happy Days
There were no clouds, except on Sundays
This made things difficult
There was no solitude
Except when you were on your own
And even then you have intricate ways to place anyone anywhere and why not, they don’t deserve to be alone
Because I love you
And we knew no better.
We still don’t
And shadows danced four thousand hour days
Golden eyes and red teeth
We bathed in the pot holes on the side of the road
They bathed in the pot holes on the side of the road
This made things difficult
